Smart lights steal the show at LED Expo New Delhi manifesting India’s positive adoption towards the future of lights

6 Dec 2019

Covering all aspects in efficient lights, LED Expo New Delhi welcomed the next stage of lighting – Smart Lights. The showfloor being packed with multi-purpose lights controlled by remotes and smart gadgets, evidently displayed India’s acceptance towards connected lights and urban living.

The urban population of the country is in constant search of integrated lighting systems that will help build a better, more connected living space. This edition of LED Expo New Delhi 2019, was a one-stop platform to source and learn about the entire value chain of the lighting industry. With every edition, this premier trade fair has successfully displayed the future trends by showcasing technologies with potential to change the Indian lighting market. The record-breaking edition not just highlighted a major surge with 389 exhibitors but also hosted 10,404 focused business visitors from across the country.

The products and technologies displayed at the show ranged from residential to commercial, industrial and street-lighting. Building smart cities being one of the major agendas for the government, many companies showcased integrated street-lights with automated systems to reduce the overall maintenance and encourage less manual labour.

Venturing into the technology space exhibitor Hero Electronix - a part of Hero Group also opted for LED Expo New Delhi as their preferred platform to build a strong clientele. Rahul Bhalla- CEO, Zenatix Solutions, Enterprise IoT arm of Hero Electronix stated: “With a vision of creating home-grown, scalable and leading technology businesses out of India, Hero Electronix is creating an eco-system of new-age connected device companies with diversified interests across enterprise IoT, digital transformation, consumer IoT and home automation. Zenatix Solutions, is launching full stack connectivity solutions at LED Expo-2019 that will empower lighting OEMs launch smart lighting products and solutions.”

Along with an array of smart lighting technologies and gears, another major trend highlighted was “made in India” products and solutions by many domestic companies exhibiting on the showfloor. The paradigm shift seen in the domestic market will reduce the manufacturing cost while making the products globally competent.

As building new business relations remained the key agenda for visitors, many business visitors attended the show to learn more about the new trends and network with suppliers who can provide customisable solutions made in the country. Satisfied with his visit, Mr Pradeep Chandraker, Asst. Vice President, Fluxlite Nims Group shared: “With the product cost, the process cost of manufacturing these lights is also constantly decreasing. My main purpose to visit the show was to gage the overall market scenario as we now need advanced technologies in terms of processing and the components used. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has come up with five-star rated bulbs and how we can be the first to launch a five-star rated bulb in India was also one of my main objectives.”

Noticing the new shift in the industry, he added: “I was excited to know there were many suppliers present from the domestic market, ready to manufacture products as per their customer’s needs. These companies are competing with Chinese prices and match up in quality and safety requirements. Going further, we should promote the Indian manufacturers within this sector.”

Future Zone attracted massive attention from curious visitors keen to understand the latest developments in the energy efficient lighting industry. Wire-less lights, smart drivers and chips enabling connected lighting, remote and smart gadget (Alexa, Google) controlled products and customisable smart switches were the major highlights on the showfloor. With the showfloor illuminated by artistic yet compact and connected smart solutions, LED Expo New Delhi continued to be the face of Indian lighting market for international and domestic companies alike.

The New Delhi edition in 2020, will witness the strategic merger of India’s biggest lighting shows – Light India and LED Expo New Delhi representing the lighting and building technology sectors under one roof.
